Sebastián Riffo Montenegro (b. 1980) is a chilean artist with a background in design and communications from the Universidad del Pacífico. After a long career in advertising design, he embarked on his self-taught artistic work in 2017, with a body of work that ranges from realist painting to digital art and installation His works explore how the creation of social beliefs—whether religious, ideological, cultural, or economic—have generated filters through which we experience reality, shaping our behavior. These filters, while providing a frame of reference and a sense of belonging, can also generate a progressive disconnection from the natural world, relegating it to the background or instrumentalizing it according to social imperatives. His work has been exhibited in group exhibitions and art fairs in cities such as Hamburg, Paris, London, Thailand, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Lima, Buenos Aires, and Santiago.
